What to Expect

Lonnie's Western Room has been a Nashville karaoke institution since 1989, when it opened in the old Voodoo Room space in Printer's Alley. It's since moved a few doors down to Church Street, though it keeps its identity as part of that same downtown karaoke cluster. It's a divey room, small and a little worn around the edges, with seating that wraps around the stage for a great view. Photos of celebrity visitors like Jimmy Fallon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. line the walls. Owner Lonnie Powers, known locally as "the Prince of Printer's Alley," has been known to check IDs at the door himself. The song catalog spans country, rock, hip-hop, and oldies. A rotating cast of resident singers helps keep the night moving. Cheap beer and jumbo hot dogs round out the menu. It's become a particular favorite of Vanderbilt students over the years, alongside the usual mix of tourists and downtown regulars. It's open Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30pm to 1am, and Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 3am.
