Rudy's Jazz Room

Jazz ClubJazz

Dedicated jazz club known for hosting live performances from local and touring musicians. An intimate, seated setting focused on high-quality jazz in the Gulch.

What to Expect

Rudy's is down a side street in The Gulch at 809 Gleaves Street. Step inside and you'll see Persian rugs on the floor, armchairs and low tables, Moroccan lights overhead, photos of jazz greats on the walls, and a Steinway Model B grand piano up front. The 50-seat room was acoustically designed so there are no dead spots and no obstructed sightlines, meaning there's not a bad seat in the house. Multiple shows run on most nights: solo piano earlier in the evening, a full combo later. Cover charges typically run $12-$24 depending on the show. Every Thursday, the room shifts into Hot Club Gypsy Jazz, a weekly night dedicated to the swing style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. The menu is New Orleans-inspired: gumbo, crawfish grilled cheese, and beignets are the standouts. Cocktails lean toward prohibition era classics, with local brews rounding out the bar. Rudy's is named for Rudy Wooten of the legendary Wooten Brothers family, and the Wootens perform here regularly. Tuesday is the one night they're dark. The rest of the week, this is the most serious jazz room Nashville has. Downbeat Magazine agreed, naming it among the best in the country in 2020.
