The Eighth Room

Live Music VenueVariety

Elevated 8th Avenue lounge and live music venue known for premium cocktails, a dress-to-impress vibe, and a historic stage tied to the old Douglas Corner space. A smaller room for catching live shows in a more refined Nashville setting.

What to Expect

The Eighth Room occupies the former home of Douglas Corner Café, a songwriter listening room that helped launch Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and Blake Shelton before closing for good in 2020. Musician Jason Hollis had played the original room himself in the '90s. When he spotted the boarded-up building on a walk near his home, he and his wife Erin bought it, reopened it as The Eighth Room in 2022, and kept the original stage intact and in use. The interior leans into a different era entirely: licensed Andy Warhol prints, 1960s Italian subway tile, and 1940s lighting fixtures throughout. It's 21 and up, dress code enforced, open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 to 10pm and Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 11pm. The room holds 72 seated and up to 150 total. Weekly programming runs jazz, DJ sets, and funk and soul nights, plus Hooked, a Tuesday night show where songwriters get 60 seconds to perform their best hook in front of a panel of real industry judges, hosted by Hollis himself. Town & Country named it one of the venues shaping culture nationally, putting it in the same company as Max's Kansas City and the Viper Room.
