What to Expect

The Green Light Bar sits on 8th Avenue South, right along the outskirts of the Gulch. Green neon lights wash over the bar top and walls, with roughly 20 TVs mounted around the room for a clear sight of whatever game is on. There's also a mechanical bull with free rides, darts, an arcade duck game, and a photo booth. Monday nights turn the bar into a taping studio for Playlisted, a live podcast built as Nashville's answer to Kill Tony. Artists perform one original song for a live audience and get unfiltered feedback from a rotating guest judge. Past guests have included Jimmie Allen and Cole Swindell. The rest of the week keeps the songwriter theme going with Off The Record on Tuesdays, Hippies & Cowboys on Wednesdays, and Lyrics & Longnecks on Thursdays, each built around a rotating lineup of Nashville writers. Saturdays switch to karaoke at 8pm. Football takes over on game days, with Ohio State Saturdays reservable by table and Green Light serving as the official Cleveland Browns Backers bar. Out back, a food truck called Southern Sides runs the kitchen with hot chicken sandwiches, mac and cheese, and banana pudding. Parking is free on site, and happy hour runs weekdays from 4 to 7pm.
