The End
Small, divey rock venue known for hosting local bands and touring indie and punk acts. A longtime staple of Nashville's rock scene with a raw, high-energy atmosphere.
What to Expect
The End sits at 2219 Elliston Place, on a stretch locals call the Rock Block. The space started as Amy's, a dive bar and pool hall, before becoming a venue called Elliston Square. Bruce Fitzpatrick had been booking Nashville clubs since around 1980, helping launch early local shows for R.E.M. and Jason and the Scorchers. He later spent years booking the legendary Exit/In, just down the block, before reopening this space as The End in 1999. The room holds around 200. It's a divey space, exposed brick covered in old show posters and low light. The list of bands who've played this room reads like a punk and indie history lesson: The Flaming Lips, Minor Threat, The White Stripes, R.E.M., Fugazi, Mastodon, The Black Crowes, Sleater-Kinney, and Ty Segall have all played here. It's an events-based venue rather than a walk-in bar, open only on nights something's booked. Shows run 18+, with a typical $5 cover and doors opening around 9pm. Parking is street-only around Elliston Place, including Hayes Street behind the venue and Louise Avenue beside it.
