What to Expect
Exit/In has been at the same address on Elliston Place since 1971, which puts it among the oldest continuously operating rock clubs in the country. The room is mostly standing, dark, and intimate at around 500 capacity, with a small first-come-first-served mezzanine upstairs for better sightlines. The Wall of Fame above the bar is worth the read: over 250 hand-painted name plates of artists who've sold out the room, from The Ramones and The Police to Johnny Cash and Muddy Waters. Jimmy Buffett played his first Nashville show here. Steve Martin once took the entire audience out for burgers mid-show. The venue appeared in Robert Altman's 1975 film Nashville. Exit/In is now an official Nashville Historical Landmark, and the booking still reflects it. The venue is card-only, no cash. Parking on Elliston Place is tight; the pay lot on Louise Avenue behind the venue is the most reliable option.
