The Basement East

Concert VenueRock / Indie

Popular East Nashville concert venue known for hosting touring indie and rock acts. A go-to spot for catching live music outside the Broadway scene.

What to Expect

The Basement East, locally known as The Beast, is a dark, warehouse-style room with a raised stage and mostly standing room up front. Limited tables and chairs are available but go fast on a first-come-first-served basis, so arriving early is the move. There's a small mezzanine above the main floor for better sightlines if you want to hang back, and a spacious outdoor deck where you can step out between sets for a view of downtown Nashville across the river. Parking is easy: Fireman's Credit Union directly across the street opens its lot to concertgoers from 6PM to 3AM. Opened in 2015, The Beast built its reputation fast by consistently booking touring acts you'd never expect in a room this size. Beck, Cage the Elephant, Brandi Carlile, Luke Combs, and John Prine have all played here. The venue rebuilt after a tornado tore through East Nashville in 2020 and hasn't slowed down since.
