Star Rover Sound
Restaurant and live music venue known for country and roots-focused performances in a unique, retro-inspired setting. A sit-down experience that blends dinner and live music in a more intimate space.
What to Expect
Star Rover Sound is a steakhouse built to feel like a 1970s Nashville recording studio, with live music included most nights. It shares a building with The Optimist and Le Loup, both from the same restaurant group under chef Ford Fry. It opened in late 2022 as an elevated taqueria before pivoting to a pick-a-cut steak-forward menu: chopped steak, filet, ribeye, skirt steak, T-bone, or a double-cut chicken breast. Dessert stays simple: three pies (chocolate chess, coconut cream, apple) and soft-serve, which regulars call "Fryce Cream" when it lands on a plate of crispy fries. The booking runs wide across jazz, bluegrass, country, and Americana. One rotating set, the Imperial Blues Hour, pulls in well-known Nashville session players for a loose, jam-heavy night. Unlike most honky-tonks, the room is built quiet enough to actually hold a conversation during a set. Dinner and music run together Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 10pm, and Sunday from 5 to 9pm, with reservations through OpenTable. If you're feeling bold, the 76er Challenge dares you to finish a 76-ounce standing rib roast with a milk roll, side salad, fries, and onion rings, all in under an hour. Finishing it gets you the meal free, a spot on the Steak Challenge wall, and a T-shirt to prove it.
