What to Expect

The 5 Spot opened in 2003, years before East Nashville's eclectic food scene, wine bars, and vintage shops gave the neighborhood its current pull. Todd Sherwood took over booking in 2007 in his mid-twenties, and nearly twenty years and more than 50,000 shows later, he's still the one setting the calendar. Seating is first come, first served, with doors opening 30 minutes before showtime, so arrive early if you prefer not to stand. The booking doesn't sit in one lane. Rock, country, funk, and straight songwriter sets all show up in the same week. Weekly nights have their own following: Sunday is karaoke, Monday runs a Blue Monday set into a later Motown Monday, and Tuesday pairs an early songwriter open mic with a full band set called Tight 5 Tuesday. All shows are 21 and up, and tickets typically run $5 to $10 a night.
