The Nations Bar & Grill
Neighborhood bar and restaurant in The Nations known for food, drinks, and live music throughout the week. A casual spot for catching country, Americana, and bluegrass-leaning performances without leaving West Nashville.
What to Expect
The Nations Bar & Grill sits on 51st Avenue North in The Nations, a fast-growing West Nashville neighborhood where old warehouses and auto shops have turned into breweries, casual eateries, and neighborhood dive bars. Inside, it leans into that same dive-bar feel, with two covered patios out back where dogs are welcome. Friday nights bring live bluegrass, often billed as the bar's own bluegrass showcase, and a band called Bluesnado takes over every second Saturday of the month. The kitchen is known for bacon-wrapped wings, a giant soft pretzel, and a veggie burger. On Fridays, they serve a bean roll, a hefty fist-thick burrito stuffed with refried beans and topped with spicy red sauce, melted cheese, sour cream, and jalapeno. The recipe traces back to the Gold Rush, the legendary Elliston Place dive bar that closed in 2019, brought over by its longtime kitchen manager, Buster Depue. As of summer 2026, the bar is temporarily paused for renovations, working on a refreshed space and an updated menu before reopening.
